Kazakh literature is an environment that unites many strong writers and poets. One of them is Tolen Abdikov. His works, philosophical thoughts, psychological conditions, topical issues and peculiarities of the writing style have found a place in the hearts of readers.

Tolen Abdikov was born on September 4, 1942 in the village of Enbek in Zhangeldy region. Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2002).

In 1965, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Kazakh State University.

From 1965 to 1970 worked as a literary worker in the newspaper "Kazakhstan Pioneer".

From 1970 to 1977, he was head of department in Zhalyn publishing house, deputy editor-in-chief.

In 1977, he worked as a chief editor at the Kazakhfilm studio.

From 1976 to 1986 - an instructor, head of the literary department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, chief editor of the newspaper "Qazaq ädebietı".

In 1994 worked as an assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since 1997, deputy head of the domestic policy department in the administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The first story of Abdikov under the title "Raihan" was published in 1964 in the collection of stories of young writers of Kazakhstan "Tañğy şyq" ("Morning Dew").

In 1977 was published the book of translations "Ellada erlerı" ("Heroes of Hellas") which collected Greek legends.

In 1981, a book titled "Aqiqat" ("Truth") was published in Russian.

In 1984 in Almaty on the stage of Theatre of Youth Theater was staged a drama work "Bız üşeu edık" ("There were three of us"). Some stories, stories were translated into Ukrainian, Uzbek, Kirghiz languages. A collection of stories and novels was issued in 1969, "Kökjiek" ("Horizon"), in 1971 "Aqiqat" ("The Truth"), in 1980 "Aitylmağan aqiqat" ("Untold truth"), a novel Ölı ara ("Dead bee"), devoted to the years of collectivization in Kazakhstan.

In 2002 the story "Parasat maidany" was published, this work won a prize of PEN club, the author was awarded with the international Franz Kawki medal. The author was awarded the Franz Kawki International Medal.
